What is a 0% purchase credit card?
0% purchase credit cards (sometimes called interest-free cards) are credit cards where you don’t pay interest on new purchases for a set period of time.
Think of it as a way to spread out the cost of a big purchase, without paying a penny extra for borrowing the money.
How does the 0% interest period work?
No interest for up to 12 months
From the point you're accepted, any purchase you make will be interest-free for 6 or 12 months (depending on what you're eligible for).
Minimum monthly payments
You'll still need to pay at least the minimum amount. We'll walk you through how to in the mobile app.
You'll be charged interest when it ends
Once the 0% period ends, interest will be charged straight away on any balance left on the card.
No impact on your credit score

0% interest credit card FAQs
What happens if I miss a monthly payment?
You need to avoid missing a payment. You won’t lose your 0% interest period, but you’ll likely be charged late fees and it could affect your credit score.
What happens when the 0% interest period ends?
Once the 0% interest period wraps up, any balance left over on your card will start accruing interest at your standard rate (we’ll show you this before you apply). Try to plan ahead, and pay over the minimum if you can.
How does Section 75 protect my large purchases?
When you use your credit card for a purchase between £100 and £30,000, your spends are legally protected under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act. It means that if a retailer goes bust, items aren't delivered, or goods are faulty, we are jointly responsible with the seller to refund your money. This gives you an added layer of security over debit cards or cash for big purchases. Things like home renovation costs, holiday bookings, or car repairs.
Can I use a 0% purchase card at a cash machine?
Technically yes you can, but that doesn’t mean you should. The 0% interest rate only applies to purchases, so you’ll be charged the standard interest rate (plus a fee) for taking cash out.
Can I transfer a balance to a 0% purchase card?
You can. Our 0% purchase cards also come with up to 12 months interest-free on balance transfers. That means that if you’ve got a big balance on a different credit card, you can move it over and pay no interest for up to a whole year.
Will applying for a 0% purchase card affect my credit score?
Checking your eligibility won’t affect your credit score. This is what’s known as a ‘soft search’. If you go on to apply however, that will be registered as a ‘hard search’ so will likely affect your score.
